Recently there have been many successful Korean VOCALOID producers like TAK, trapchick, and AnythingBecomeMoe. This one is really popular lately.
maybe it's due to how the producer managed to convey old-school vocaloid/niconico comedy-like music videos while also conveying korean culture?
- it contains popular korean karen stereotypes
- recently popular editting style(trumpet boy-like animation)
- 'nya'-there was a meme few years ago where someone's japanese friends thought korean style of speech '냐, nya' was cute, but in fact it is more of a 'bruh, dude' kind of speech
but what bothers me is that they used ai for background illustration. a lot of korean artists are way more willing to use ai for many things. ABM also had this issue(though they finally changed their mind, saying they'd never be able to confidently present it as their own work). youtube is flooded with ai created shorts, playlists, animations and stuff.
in real life, i can't stop seeing this phenomenon. i'm in art club and someone was using ai to make reference photo to make an oil painting.
i think it bothers me so much because it makes me think everyone's somehow forgot to be genuine about anything at all. if someone points out how it's problematic everyone else just says, 'it's a tool to be used, why are you bothered so much? stop doing anything at all if you're so worried about global warming and stuff' the best one could argue is 'it's effortless and not reviewed well enough'
i don't feel so good lately about enjoying anything at all because every part of subcultures are flooded with ai controversies and anything new that's appealing at first is somehow tainted with worst sin of art.
